About Juan

Professional Boxer | Amateur Boxing Coach | Personal Trainer

Because there were no gyms or personal coaches in Chilanguera, El Salavador, Juan started training as a wee boy by making weights out of rocks and rope after studying hours and hours of Bruce Lee movies. He was known in the area as the Incredible Man. He loved when it rained because the slippery hills let him work on balance and flexibility. Since coming to the US he’s studied just about every form of martial arts known to man. Kenpo Karate, eight years of Japanese-style Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira, Muay Thai, and Kung Fu. He has fought in kickboxing and boxing matches and has been boxing exclusively for the last eight years at Hit Fit Gym—first as an amateur fighter, where coach Simon Redmond dubbed him The Animal and now as a professional. He holds a professional boxing license and a Boxing Coach’s license. He works out at least five days a week for hours at a time. And his doctor says he has muscles where no one has muscles. His style of teaching is much like his style of training: intense. “I believe every person can do whatever they want but they are their own enemy keeping them from doing what they want.” He loves to help people realize they can do anything—with hard work and pushing their bodies as much as possible. “Don’t let your mind tell you what to do, you tell your mind what you want to do.” If Juan isn't in the gym he’s probably out running the hills at Land’s End. Or doing 1,000 push-ups in his living room in Daly City where he lives with his wife.

He’s available for personal training for people of all levels—from professional boxers to couch potatoes. He'll train you at your speed at Hit Fit (1150 Sutter @ Polk in SF) or anywhere you feel comfortable. Just call or text 415.756.4156 or email

One on One

No matter if you want to step in the ring or feel great when you step in front of a mirror,

I can help you make it happen. We can use typical boxing workouts or not—depending on what you need. All you have to do is show up and work hard—together we can get you where you want to be.

I started as a kick boxer. I still love the kicks and tricks of the sport and enjoy passing on what I know so if you're interested in learning, let's talk.

Boxing is a total body workout. Even if you never plan on getting in the ring, it's a great way to get in shape. And because you'll be learning the sweet science along the way, you'll have so much fun you'll be surprised when your workout is over.

Along with a Professional Boxing License, I hold a USA Boxing Amateur Coaching License so I'll be in your corner from the start all the way in to the ring—making sure you have what it takes mentally and physically, to win.

I can also train groups—even coming to your office, etc. We can arrange just about anything.

what clients have to say

"Juan is in this to make sure you're getting the most out of his training. He doesn't stop the training session just because your time is up, he stops when you're exhausted and can't throw another punch. In three short weeks I saw my technique, speed and endurance drastically improve."—Cynthia C, Royal Oak, MI

"Not only is he an amazing athlete and trainer, but his passion for boxing and personal fitness is off the charts. He was patient, and even when I thought I couldn't do something that was more difficult

(I was a beginner), his encouraging and inspiring nature helped me through...I can honestly say he is the best trainer I've ever worked with."—Rebecca L, Clawson, MI
